The Beitou Folk Arts Museum is situated on the mountains of the Beitou Hot Springs area following a steep hill linking to the mountains. Because it is under private administration, so the tickets are a little more expensive than normal newly built museums. The first sight of the Folk Arts Museum brings back a nostalgia of a lovers' reunion. It is an incredibly old building, designated by the Taipei City Government as a historical site of the third rank . It is of 2 storeys height, and the design took after that of the Tung Dynasty. At the front of the gate is a tea cremonial hall with the art crafts section. After getting admitted at the ticket booth, you need to switch to indoor slippers and finally you may slowly admire the cultural items within the building. There are Taiwanese traditional objects, traditional costumes, aboriginal cultural teachings etc. on display, and the most popular Women's Foot-binding History display portrays the pain women had to go through in the past. After touring, don't forget the toilet in the downstairs area, it includes a sense of obsolesence as well as pictures of historical beauties. On the way out, there is a guest book and museum stamps for you to leave with a mark and return home with a memento!
